The Youth Initiative
Deep in the heart of Fort Bend County Texas, a dream became a reality. The dream: to encourage youth and celebrate their talents in the areas of literary and fine arts. With help from the surrounding community, Fort Bend County Commissioner, Andy Meyers and the Fort Bend County Libraries, held the first Literary and Fine Arts Festival and Parade in April of 2014. After awarding several scholarships to participating students from public school campuses within Precinct 3, it was obvious that this event could become a “true gem” for the residents of Fort Bend County. This event showcases and encourages all youth to pursue their writing and fine arts talents and passions. It also provides a glimpse of the “jewel” that is Fort Bend County. A Message From The Commissioner…
It’s that time of year again when Fort Bend County showcases its extremely talented youngsters. The 4th Annual Literary and Fine Arts Festival and Parade will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
Our young artists and writers have an opportunity to really shine. Comments from the students (and their parents) who participated last year reflect that a wonderful and memorable experience was had by all. Some of the students even left the event with a trophy that was taller than they were and a scholarship in their pocket! Everyone who participated received a ribbon of either blue, red or white from the judges.
Local businesses and community organizations have an opportunity to be a part of this exciting, and very worthwhile, community event. Just click on the various tabs found at the top of the homepage to find out how you can participate.
It is our hope that everyone will take this opportunity to come out and enjoy a day filled with displays of student art and writing, musical entertainment, and the book character parade featuring our youngest participants!
